➥ There are only 3 Scriptures outside of Revelation where YHWH turns water to Blood. All 3 occurrences are about the 10 Plagues of Egypt. YHWH seems to be drawing attention to the similarities, purpose & parallels between the 10 Plagues of Egypt and the 7 Bowls of Wrath. Therefore, much more emphasis should go to the few scriptures that discuss this similar event.
➥ Exodus 7:14-24
The Plague of Blood
14 Then the Lord said to Moses,
“Pharaoh’s heart is unyielding; he refuses to let the people go.
15 Go to Pharaoh in the morning as he goes out to the river.
Confront him on the bank of the Nile,
and take in your hand the staff that was changed into a snake.
16 Then say to him, ‘The Lord, the God of the Hebrews, has sent me to say to you: Let my people go, so that they may worship me in the wilderness.
But until now you have not listened.
17 This is what the Lord says:
By this you will know that I am the Lord:
With the staff that is in my hand, I will strike the water of the Nile,
and it will be changed into blood.
18 The fish in the Nile will die, and the river will stink;
the Egyptians will not be able to drink its water.’”
19 The Lord said to Moses,
“Tell Aaron, ‘Take your staff and stretch out your hand over the waters of Egypt—over the streams and canals, over the ponds and all the reservoirs
—and they will turn to blood.’
Blood will be everywhere in Egypt, even in vessels of wood and stone.”
20 Moses and Aaron did just as the Lord had commanded.
He raised his staff in the presence of Pharaoh and his officials
and struck the water of the Nile, and all the water was changed into blood.
21 The fish in the Nile died,
and the river smelled so bad that the Egyptians could not drink its water.
Blood was everywhere in Egypt.
22 But the Egyptian magicians did the same things with their secret arts,
and Pharaoh’s heart became hard; he would not listen to Moses and Aaron,
just as the Lord had said.
23 Instead, he turned and went into his palace,
and did not take even this to heart.
24 And all the Egyptians dug along the Nile to get drinking water,
because they could not drink the water of the river.
➥ Psalm 78
43 When He worked His signs in Egypt,
And His wonders in the field of Zoan;
44 Turned their rivers into blood,
And their streams, that they could not drink.
45 He sent swarms of flies among them, which devoured them,
And frogs, which destroyed them.
46 He also gave their crops to the caterpillar,
And their labor to the locust.
47 He destroyed their vines with hail,
And their sycamore trees with frost.
48 He also gave up their cattle to the hail,
And their flocks to fiery lightning.
49 He cast on them the fierceness of His anger,
Wrath, indignation, and trouble,
By sending angels of destruction among them.
50 He made a path for His anger;
He did not spare their soul from death,
But gave their life over to the plague,
51 And destroyed all the firstborn in Egypt,
The first of their strength is in the tents of Ham.
52 But He made His own people go forth like sheep,
And guided them in the wilderness like a flock;
53 And He led them on safely so that they did not fear;
But the sea overwhelmed their enemies.
54 And He brought them to His holy border,
This mountain which His right hand had acquired.
55 He also drove out the nations before them,
Allotted them an inheritance by survey,
And made the tribes of Israel dwell in their tents.
➥ Psalm 105
23 Israel also came into Egypt,
And Jacob dwelt in the land of Ham.
24 He increased His people greatly,
And made them stronger than their enemies.
25 He turned their heart to hate His people,
To deal craftily with His servants.
26 He sent Moses His servant,
And Aaron whom He had chosen.
27 They performed His signs among them,
And wonders in the land of Ham.
28 He sent darkness, and made it dark;
And they did not rebel against His word.
29 He turned their waters into blood,
And killed their fish.
30 Their land abounded with frogs,
Even in the chambers of their kings.
31 He spoke, and there came swarms of flies,
And lice in all their territory.
32 He gave them hail for rain,
And flaming fire in their land.
33 He struck their vines also, and their fig trees,
And splintered the trees of their territory.
34 He spoke, and locusts came,
Young locusts without numbers,
35 And ate up all the vegetation in their land,
And devoured the fruit of their ground.
36 He also destroyed all the firstborn in their land,
The first of all is their strength.
37 He also brought them out with silver and gold,
And there was none feeble among His tribes.
38 Egypt was glad when they departed,
For the fear of them had fallen upon them.
39 He spread a cloud for a covering,
And fire to give light in the night.
40 The people asked, and He brought quail,
And satisfied them with the bread of heaven.
41 He opened the rock, and water gushed out;
It ran in dry places like a river.
42 For He remembered His holy promise,
And Abraham His servant.
43 He brought out His people with joy,
His chosen ones with gladness.
44 He gave them the lands of the Gentiles,
And they inherited the labor of the nations,
45 That they might observe His statutes
And keep His laws.
Praise the Lord!
