The 144,000 are the Bride of Christ in Revelation 20. They are also referred to as priests, Kings & judges throughout the Book of Revelation and will reign with Christ for the 1,000 years in Revelation 20. The 144,000 make up the New Heavens Government which will reign with Christ over the New Earth!

The Number of the 144,000 is important to God because He has also built the number into the design temple of Christ’s Bride of New Jerusalem which is 12,000 by 12,000 stadia at Revelation 21:16 which equals 144,000. The walls of New Jerusalem in the very next verse also mention the thickness of the walls are 144 cubits.

16 The city lies foursquare, its length the same as its width. And he measured the city with his rod, 12,000 stadia. Its length and width and height are equal. 17 He also measured its wall, 144 cubits by human measurement, which is also an angel’s measurement.

The 144,000 priests, kings & judges who reign with Christ for the 1,000 years “out of every tribe, language, people, and nation” at Revelation 5:9-10.
The 144,000 as well as the Great Multitude of Revelation 7 are Biblical Israel and thus are the twelve tribes of Israel!

The 144,000 are one of two groups, including the Great Multitude, mentioned in Revelation 7 as being rewarded with Salvation during Christ’s Second Coming. The 144,000 will be part of the “new heavens” government of New Jerusalem and the Great Multitude will be part of the “new earth.”

Revelation 7:1-4 provides the best description of what happens during the sealing of the 144,000.

1 After this, I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, so that no wind would blow on the earth, or on the sea, or on any tree.

The 144,000 are mentioned in Revelation 7:4 and Revelation 14:1-5.
The number of 144 is mentioned at Revelation 21:17 and the square footage of New Jerusalem in Revelation 21:16 equals 144,000 when you multiply 12,000 stadia by 12,000 stadia. Finally, Revelation 6:11 in the 5th Seal does not mention the 144,000 directly but does mention the “number.”

They are called the “immortals” because their mortal body must put on “immortality” at 1 Corinthians 15:54. They are called “firstfruits” at Revelation 14:4 because they have been redeemed from mankind as “firstfruits” or take part in first resurrection of Revelation 20:5-6.

According to Matthew 24:29, 31, the First Resurrection will occur “immediately after the tribulation of those days” “the Son of Man will send out His angels with a loud trumpet call to gather His elect.” The event takes place at the last trumpet according to Paul in 1 Corinthians 15:52.

God has built the number of the 144,000 into the temple design of Christ’s Bride of New Jerusalem which is 12,000 by 12,000 stadia at Revelation 21:16 which equals 144,000. The walls of New Jerusalem in the very next verse also mention the thickness of the walls which are 144 cubits.

Revelation 5:10 says, “and made them kings and priests to our God, And they reign on earth.”

  • The 144,000 must meet all of Christ’s standard of requirements He lists in His 7 letters to the 7 Churches in Revelation 2 & 3!
  • Revelation 7:3 says its the Angles who seal the 144,000. The big problem today is that men or whole religions are appointing themselves to be the 144,000.
  • Revelation 12:11 adds, “for they loved not their lives even unto death.”
  • Revelation 14:5 adds, “and in their mouth no lie was found, for they are blameless.”
  • Revelation 20:4 adds that many of the 144,000 are “beheaded” during the time of the Beast, Image and Mark (666).

Revelation 5:9-10 answers that the 144,000 comes “out of every tribe, language, people, and nation!”
Verse 10 continues, “and made them kings and priests to our God, and they reign on earth.”

According to Revelation 7:1-3, the Angels seal the 144,000 stating, “until we have sealed the bondservants of our God on their foreheads!”
The Angelic sealing of the 144,000 is finished in the 6th Trumpet when the 4 Angles are released at Revelation 9:14-15.

According to Revelation 20:4-5, the 144,000 will reign with Christ for 1,000 years which is repeated twice. Additionally, after Christ’s 1,000 year reign, the 144,000 will reign with Christ for eternity!

I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded for the testimony of Jesus, and for the word of God, and such as didn’t worship the beast nor his image, and didn’t receive the mark on their forehead and on their hand. The 144,000 are called “firstfruits” at Revelation 14:5 because they will participate in the “first resurrection” repeated twice in Revelation 20:5-6.
